Every day I go out to the quiet area if it is dry and some of my friends go round as well. We look under the bits of the bird cake to see if any birds have nibbled at it. they have!

Hi P3 it was great making bird cake but i dont think the birds are taking much notice. I hope they start eating it soon as it is Winter now.By P3.

We used lard to bind all the ingredients together. It was very sticky and greasy! We had trouble washing our hands to get it off! We did not taste the bird cake…it didn’t look very nice but we are sure the birds will enjoy it! We will be looking at the types of birds soon because we are taking part in the RSPB bird watch in January! We can’t wait!

No real sightings of birds eating the cake but we will keep our eyes peeled! P3.

Hi p3,
We’ve read a story called The Bird Cafe. It’s a story about a class of children doing the same sort of experiment. They had made different bird feeding hangers to help the birds perch and get food properly. They did this because the birds were all different shapes and sizes. Did you have the same problem?

Mr O – yes! The students should have done a taste test and then reported back on the results, imagine the comparisons that they’d be able to do… I look forward to seeing posts about the results… what sort of birds are there in Scotland at this time of year. If its snowing do they fly away for the winter?
